Bill Ward, age 87, died Monday, December 18, 2017 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Olney with Chad Edgington, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Megargel Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Bill was born January 10, 1930 in Vernon, Texas to the late James Alva Ward and Laura (Rouse) Ward. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He married Betty Lamar on October 15, 1954 in Megargel, Texas. Bill lived in Olney until 2014 when he moved to Wichita Falls. He loved to play golf, especially in the Monday evening scramble at the Olney Country Club. Billís favorite hobbies were oil painting and clock repair, and watching his granddaughters play softball. Bill played fast-pitch softball and was a pitcher on the Air Force team. He retired from Brazos Telephone Company and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Olney. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his Step-Mother, Grace Ward; two brothers, James E. Ward and E. Neal Ward; and one great-grandchild, Bryson Gates.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Ward of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Debi and Steve Mills of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Kena Ward of Duncan, Oklahoma and Roger and Linda Ward of Wichita Falls, Texas; five grandchildren: Christopher and Whitney Ward of Murray, Kentucky, Courtney and Michael Cole of Norman, Oklahoma, Josh and Kimberly Smith of San Antonio, Texas, Kristen and Johnathan Terrell of Wichita Falls, Texas and Kelli and Keith Gates of Wichita Falls, Texas; seven great-grandchildren: Gage Ward, Georgia Cole, Grace Cole, Kinsley Gates, Khloe Gates, Cooper Terrell and Addison Terrell; one brother, Harold Ward of Graham, Texas; and special friends, Julia and Nathan Lewis of Olney, Texas.

Family visitation will be Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
